Joining the Library
Members of the Perth Branch of the Theosophical Society are automatically members of the library and do not need to subscribe.
Library membership is open to the public, on presentation of your photo I.D. showing name and address, and payment of the refundable bond. The 12 month subscription is just $15.
Borrowing
Items borrowed may be kept for up to 3 weeks and can be renewed once over the phone and after that returned for inspection before a second renewal may be offered. One or two items may be borrowed at a time depending on the bond amount paid. Members of the Theosophical Society may borrow a total of three items at a time.
Bond (refundable on cessation of membership): $ 50 for one item (book, DVD, CD); $100 for two items (books, DVDs, CDs). If Library membership not renewed within 2 months following the due date, the bond is forfeited if not claimed for refund.
Lost or badly damaged books: will incur a replacement fee.
Books, DVDs, CDs are not transferable to other library members.
Renewals
Loans can be renewed once over the phone. After that they must be returned for inspection before a second renewal may be offered. Extensions on borrowing times can be given a maximum of twice after which the borrowed items must then be returned to give others the opportunity to read them.
Library Staff
All Library staff are volunteers.
Please assist them by returning borrowed items and paying membership on time.
Reading Room
For the convenience of members and visitors, there is also a large reading area, with comfortable seating and appropriate lighting. On the opposite side of the room there is also on display a special collection of rare first edition books of early Theosophical authors, some of which are signed, as well as invaluable reference works, for TS members only, which require special permission to access.
Research Library
A specialist research library is available to members of the Theosophical Society. This is not a lending library.
